I should also mention that this was my 2nd probe and I had the same issues with the first one as well. I was able to loosen a nut in the back and adjust the dial to a temperature that agreed with me and my references. By now I was convinced that the probe left the factory severely miscalibrated. The probe indicated a temperature of about 700 deg. using a digital meat thermometer for a reference. This didn't seem possible to me so I threw the probe in a pot of boiling water, which physics dictates, should be 212 deg. I had a good fire fire going and the probe was indicating a catalyst temperature of 1600 deg. Needless to say, this raised a mental flag. When I first saw it right out of the box it was indicating a temperature of 300 deg. ![]() It works quite well, but it took a little doing to get it to work that way. ( More customer reviews)A temperature probe is absolutely essential to monitor a catalytic combustor's performance and the condition of the fire.
